Reader – reading the microchip code

TROVAN reading devices (readers, scanners) are of two types: stationary and portable. A portable reading device is powered by a battery whose capacity allows at least 1,000 reading cycles without recharging. Using an antenna, the reader emits long-wavelength electromagnetic radiation. When a microchip (transponder) enters the range of this signal, it receives energy and reflects it modulated into the form of the microchip’s identification code. The transmitted microchip (transponder) code is captured by the reader and shown on the display together with the date and time of the read. Reading devices usually include memory with a capacity of thousands or more codes that can be organized, transferred to a computer, or assigned attributes (for example names). The device can operate standalone or be connected to a computer. The software we supply enables communication between the reader and the computer and also supports record-keeping.
