The amendment to the Veterinary Act No. 302/2017 Coll. imposes an obligation to mark dogs with a microchip.
Chip registration creates responsibility for owners for their animal companions. Easy identification of the animal and its owner in case the dog is lost.
The microchip code does not contain your name, phone number or email. The microchip also cannot be located via satellite. It contains only an identification code, which is a combination of letters and numbers. The code is unique and non-repeatable. Even after being read by a scanner, it is not immediately clear who the animal belongs to. It depends on whether the owner has registered their dog in the Central Register of Animals and Things.
Registration enables the found dog to be identified and returned to its owner. Without registration, finding a lost animal is much more difficult.
Registration is a paid service. A one-time fee covers the costs associated with registration and the publication of data in the first year the record is stored in the database. In the following years, no further registration or maintenance fees are charged for the included data.

As part of the registration, data can be updated free of charge (change of address, phone number, etc.). However, a change of owner’s name or microchip code is always considered a new registration.

Electronic registration requires a functional email address to which information necessary to activate the user profile will be sent. On our server, you will create a profile – choose a username and password. Username and password are the credentials that allow you to log in to our server. Through electronic registration, it is now possible to register a dog, cat, ferret, and upon request, another animal or item.
